Constructive BMP's - This is a recent commercial infill development
located in Pittsburgh, CA. It is a retail auto parts store (Auto Zone).
The architect is RHL Design Group. Ideas were generated from the "Start
at the Source" BASMAA guidebook 1999 edition. City Project Planner are Chris
Bekiaris and Ken Strelo. Details - Grassy swales with cobblestone bottom
are used to convey stormwater from the parking lot and building to a SDI
located at low grade. The SDI seconds as a detention inlet to the City stormdrain
system. If heavy rains come, the inlet has a large opening at the top of
the pipe to allow rapid movement of water if necessary. Also, notice the
covered trash enclosure and other small design features. We feel this is
especially important with these types of uses, due to possible leaking autos
and oil changes that unknowingly take place in the parking lot. |
